Overview

High-temperature superconductivity in alkali-adoped fullerides - the ultimate story

Biography

Professor Denis Arcon obtained his PhD at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1998 with the study of ferromagnetism in TDAE-C60. After returning from a post-doc at the Sussex University in Brighton, UK, he became a head of Pulsed EPR laboratory at the Institute Jožef Stefan, Ljubljana, Slovenia. Currently he is a professor at the Faculty of mathematics and physics, University of Ljubljana and has been in recent years a visiting scientist at the Durham University, UK, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, and Vilnius University, Lithuania. Prof. Arcon has a broad specialisation in magnetic resonance measurements (NMR, EPR and muSR). His prime fields of interest are metal-insulator transitions, superconductivity and magnetic properties of doped fullerides where he made significant contributions in explaining the role of electron correlations on the electronic ground states. Recently he became interested also in unconventional superconductivity in iron-based superconductors and strongly frustrated magnetism in low dimensional solids. In all these fields he has published over 140 refereed publications (including 3 Science and 1 Nature papers).
